His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), attended on Thursday morning the graduation ceremony of postgraduate students for the Fall 2025 cohort at the University of Sharjah. The ceremony, held at University City Hall, celebrated the graduation of 394 male and female students.
His Highness, President of the University of Sharjah, noted that professions and job titles evolve over time and across generations, with specialisations continually developing. While all professions remain valuable and impactful, he stressed that the essence of the dream remains unchanged: to be a beneficial individual and to leave a meaningful impact. He emphasised that true value lies not in fulfilling one’s first childhood dream, but in transforming the journey of life into one of giving and lasting influence.
Address to graduates
Addressing the graduates, His Highness said: “Today, you stand on the threshold of a new chapter in your lives. You have carried the trust of knowledge and equipped yourselves with the tools of learning. I see in your faces the same certainty and determination that builds a future not to be awaited, but to be created. You have graduated from a distinguished academic institution, a university that has achieved exceptional accomplishments.”

His Highness highlighted the University of Sharjah’s key achievements at the local and global levels, stating: “The University of Sharjah has ranked among the world’s top 350 universities according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026. It achieved third place globally in the International Outlook indicator and 47th worldwide in Research Quality within the same ranking. In the Times Higher Education Interdisciplinary Science Rankings, the University secured 26th place globally and fourth in the Arab world, while ranking first among UAE universities in its first participation in this classification.”
Shanghai Ranking Achievements
He added: “In the Shanghai Global Ranking 2025, the University of Sharjah ranked among the top 150 universities worldwide in Energy Science and Engineering, among the top 200 globally in Dentistry, and among the top 300 universities worldwide in Medicine, Nursing, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Electronic Engineering.” His Highness noted that these achievements reflect the University’s academic and research excellence.
Innovation and research milestones
His Highness reviewed the University’s progress in innovation, stating: “Your university has achieved qualitative leaps, with 100 invention disclosure applications submitted, 65 of which have been registered with global patent offices in the United States and Europe. To date, 29 patents have been officially granted. The University is currently working on transforming nine of these innovations into start-up companies, some of which are being launched, while others are completing their final stages.” He stressed that this represents a clear message that the University of Sharjah is not merely an academic institution, but a platform for producing knowledge, technology, and innovation.
Appreciation for parents and families
Addressing the graduates’ parents, His Highness said: “Today, as we celebrate this achievement, we recognise that behind every graduate is a story of patience, behind every success a prayer, and behind every certificate a family that believed. You have been true partners in this journey: supporting, embracing, and bearing anxiety before joy, and fatigue before the moment of light. Today, you deserve our deepest appreciation and gratitude.”
A final message to graduates
In concluding his address, His Highness conveyed a message to the graduates, saying: “Move forward with the confidence of those who know their worth, and with the courage of those who understand that the future belongs to those who pursue it. Do not fear experience, and do not hesitate to innovate. The world does not wait for the hesitant; it awaits those who resemble you. Be true to yourselves, faithful to your principles, and devoted to serving your communities.”
Opening ceremony and welcome address
The graduation ceremony commenced with the UAE national anthem, followed by recitation of verses from the Holy Quran. Professor Dr Esameldin Agamy, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, then delivered a speech in which he said: “On this bright day, I extend my deepest gratitude and appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for his gracious patronage and honouring of this ceremony, as well as for his constant commitment to supporting higher education and scientific research.” He congratulated postgraduate graduates and their families on this well-deserved achievement.
Academic responsibility beyond Graduation
Dr Agamy added: “Earning a master’s or PHD degree does not mark the end of an academic journey, but rather the beginning of a greater scientific and ethical responsibility. Knowledge is not an end in itself, but a tool for building individuals and serving society. A true researcher is one who employs knowledge to solve problems, develop thought, and create a positive impact that contributes to national progress and prosperity.”
Investing in human potential
He further spoke about the University’s vision in investing in human potential, saying: “The University of Sharjah takes pride in being a regional and international beacon of knowledge, founded on a vision that views science as a civilisational project and invests in people above all else. This vision is inspired by the approach of its founder, His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. You are today an extension of this distinguished academic legacy and ambassadors of the University’s values wherever you may be.”
Advice to graduates
Dr Agamy urged graduates to serve as bridges between knowledge and practice, models of responsible and critical thinking, and agents of positive change in their communities. He encouraged them to continue pursuing knowledge with determination and renewed hope, and to dedicate what they have learned to serving humanity and building a more advanced and sustainable future.

Graduate Yousif Al Hammadi delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates, stating that the moment represents a lifetime achievement that began with a dream rooted in a love for knowledge and continuing education at the University of Sharjah. He noted that their academic journey was a rich experience that shaped awareness and reinforced the belief that learning is a continuous path without end.
